Ivancice
Ivancice lies about 30 km from Brno. It spreads out on the confluence of three rivers - Jihlava, Oslava and Rokytna, Ivancice is sometimes called Town of Three Rivers. It is a town with population of about 10,500 inhabitants.
History of Ivancice:
- 1073 The first reference to the castle with a market - forerunners of present Ivancice.
- 1212 The foundation of the town placed on business road.
- 1304 The town burnt out by Cumans, the inhabitants died in the fire of the church. New set-tlers - vintners came from Lower upper Austria.
- 16th century Bloom of the town, the 8th largest town in Moravia.
- 1535 Czech Brethern got a house in the suburbs and organized congregation.
- 1558 - 1571 Bishop Jan Blahoslav worked in Ivancice, A secret printing office was founded on his initiative, he organized a system of schools, translated the New Testament.
